OPINION: San Francisco Is Nanny State U.S.A.

highlights:

Considering that most grocery stores rebate customers who bring their own
bags only 3 cents each, the 17-cent fee seems a tad steep. Grocery stores are to
spend their half on the recycling programs they supposedly offer, while the City
plans to direct its revenues toward the Department of the Environment. In other
words, it goes down the black hole known as the San Francisco budget.

On top of all this, the supervisors have introduced a measure for
the November election that would ban all handguns. As I've pointed out
previously, this law would leave law-abiding
citizens defenseless and criminals untouched. This is exactly the state the City
seems to prefer its citizenry to remain in -- docile.
